GCSE Mathematics

The General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) is the first and most commonly taken academic examination in the UK.

It is our belief that success at this level is an extremely positive predictor of future exam success in higher levels of education. The GCSE's are used nationally for entrance into Sixth-forms and Colleges, as well as being highly valued by employers.

Consequently, Amadou's Private Tuition places significant emphasis on attainment at this level. Amadou's Private Tuition offers exam-specific and board-specific Intensive Revision Courses tailored to helping the individual pupil maximise their ability and achieve their potential.

We aim to give our students the competitive edge required to excel not just pass, but achieve the highest levels of success. We provide specific GAMSAT knowledge and exam technique to help prepare our candidates for success. This includes:

- Imparting GCSE specific knowledge
- Coaching in exam technique to maximize knowledge
- The use of innovative and modern teaching methods
- Past exam papers
- Individual specific feedback

The Intensive Revision Courses we provide are extremely popular with students.

GCSE Course Structure

The GCSE examinations are normally taken in May or June towards the end of school Year 11, when the pupils are 16.

Revision Course Book

The school courses take two academic years, and so commence in September at the beginning of Year 10. However, there is no age restriction, and other students can make arrangements to take these examinations. The GCSE courses correspond to Key Stage 4 of the National Curriculum.

Alternatively, some GCSE courses are made up of units, and the exams are taken at the end of each unit. Such courses are often referred to as modular courses.

Examinations normally take place in November/January and May/June.

The pupil's entry level for a particular subject exam largely depends on his/her results for that subject in the Key Stage 3 assessments, in Year 9. Typically, there are two "tiers" for the GCSE examinations; the Higher and Foundation Tiers.

Private tuition on a one-to-one basis is clearly the most productive way to learn. Private tuition can be used help your child catch up after temporarily falling behind, to learn a subject outside the school environment, to stretch your child further or give closer attention to the needs of your child than is possible in a classroom environment.

We feel we can offer a number of benefits for your child, including raising levels of school performance, but also helping a child to increase their confidence, enjoyment and motivation in a subject.

The extra focus and tailored attention of specialised one-to-one private tuition can be the decisive factor that will make the difference to successful learning and good exam grades, ensuring that you or your child is able to gain the most benefit from their mainstream educational activities and fulfil their academic potential.
